1.按准确度等级：
a.有功电能表：有 0.2s 级，0.5s 级，1 级，2 级； b.无功电能表：有 2 和 3 级。
2.按接入系统的方式：
a.单相电能表； b.三相三线电能表； c.三相四线电能表。
3.按接入线路方式：
a.直接接入式（直入式）；b.经电流互感器接入式（间接式）；c.经电流和电压互感器接入式（间接式）。
4.按测量电能的方向：
a.单方向测量有功、双方向测量无功（第一、四象限）；
b.双方向测量有功、双方向测量无功（第一和二象限、第三和四象限）；
