锂聚合物电池是锂电池升级换代产品，很难绝对的说聚合物锂电池和锂电池包哪个应用好，它们各有千秋。
锂电池是一类由锂金属或锂合金为负极材料，由于锂金属的化学特性非常活泼，使得锂金属的加工、保存、使用，对环境要求非常高。
锂聚合物电池是指的全固态或凝胶太为电解液的锂离子电池。一般采用铝塑复合膜作为包装材料。聚合物锂电池，从电池内部材料的角度来说，主要是内部电解质是采用聚合物，这里一般是凝胶电解质和固态电解质。
锂电池和聚合物锂电池两者的区别：
1、原理不同
锂电池大致可分为两类：锂金属电池和锂离子电池。锂金属电池通常是不可充电的，且内含金属态的锂。锂离子电池不含有金属态的锂，并且是可以充电的。
锂聚合物电池是指的全固态或凝胶太为电解液的锂离子电池，一般采用铝塑复合膜作为包装材料。
2、原材料不同
聚合物电池正极材料除了采用锂电池的无机化合物，还可以采用导电高分子聚合物;聚合物电池的电解质有高分子电解质(固态或胶态)和有机电解液。

3、塑形区别
聚合物电池可以做到薄型化、任意面积化和任意形状化，原因在于其电解质可固态可胶态而非液态。
锂电池则采用电解液，需要一个坚固的外壳作为二次包装容纳电解液。因此，这也使得锂电池增加了一部分重量。
4、导电性
锂电池的电导率保持一个稳定的值，而不会受辅助材料质量的影响。
聚合物电池的固态电解质离子电导率低，目前主要是加入了一些添加剂使其成为凝胶电解质，以改善电导率。
5、制造工艺
聚合物电池越薄越好生产，锂电池越厚越好生产，这使得锂电池包在应用上可拓展领域更多。
总的来比较锂聚合物电池和锂电池的区别，那么，唯一的就是种概念和属概念的关系，锂聚合物电池被包含于锂电池。
